BIOGRAPHY:
The Background are an American rock band who thrive from a well thought out DIY strategy. Based in the heart of Dallas, TX, the band is comprised of singer-songwriter Shaun Gunnels, James Gonzalez, and Sean Bottoms.

The band spent time honing their craft in their local music scene as well as logging shows regionally & releasing the 'Your Friends' EP to the masses in 2011. Recently, the band released new singles "Okay" (June 26, 2012) and "Hands Up" (November 13, 2012).

The Background garnered attention in Texas by playing shows with NeverShoutNever, Mae, Sherwood, Action Item, Set It Off, Cady Groves, Eisley, Lydia, This Providence, The Dangerous Summer, and Sparks The Rescue along with SXSW 2012 and Six Flags Over Texas in March & August 2012.

The band continued their momentum into 2013 with a new single, "Take It Slow". The song was released on February 14th, 2013 via BandCamp. The band will also spend time writing new songs for an extended play release later in the year as well as redefining the way the bring their musical manifesto to the world with a full-length record in the horizon.
